Delaware Fire Officials Investigate 5 Incidents Involving Fireworks

DOVER, Del.- The Office of the Delaware State Fire Marshal investigated five incidents involving fireworks on July 4.

Three of those incidents were in Kent County. 

In Magnolia, fountain fireworks started a fire inside a dumpster. In Harrington, sparklers ignited combustibles inside a trash can. In Camden, sparklers caught one home's backyard on fire, according to fire officials.

Two more incidents happened in New Castle County. 

In Newport, fireworks discharged inside an occupied apartment building. In Odessa, ground fireworks were throw away, but then ignited the trash and burned the vinyl siding off of the home. 

All fireworks are now prohibited in Delaware until the next 30-day sale period, which is Dec. 1 through Jan. 1. Legal fireworks can only be used on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1
