MADISON, Md.- Authorities say a chimney fire sparked a blaze that heavily damaged a Dorchester County home on Thursday evening.
According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the owner of the two-story home at 1306 Taylors Island Road reported the fire shortly after 7 p.m.
Dozens of firefighters from the Madison Volunteer Fire Company had the fire under control in about 90 minutes.
Deputy state fire marshal's said the fire caused an estimated $220,000 in damage to the structure and another $50,000 in damage to its contents.
The home's smoke alarm activated and no one was hurt in the fire.
