ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Gov. Larry Hogan ordered all bars, restaurants and gyms to close while Maryland "gets more aggressive" in reducing the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

Hogan said the establishments must be closed by 5 p.m. Monday.

Some drive-thrus will remain open for food pickup as well as grocery stores and pharmacies.

Hogan said he took the action after receiving guidance from the CDC, government leaders, and multiple medical professionals.

The governor also said the move was necessary after many people seemingly ignored warnings about "social distancing" and continued to pack bars and restaurants.

Maryland reported 37 positive coronavirus cases as of Monday.
