Phase Two Begins For Cambridge Marketplace

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Pass along Route 50 in Cambridge and you'll likely see new construction at the ever-evolving Cambridge Marketplace. The developers say they're now in their final phase of building what will hopefully be a community hub for drivers.

It's been a long time coming - construction has gone on for more than two years. Now, what once was an old Kmart and office building are empty lots. A 12-thousand square foot Goodwill store is also on its way.

Superintendent Andrew Gamble says he and his crew will tie up loose ends over the next two weeks before move in.

"To see it come along, especially the exterior of the building, you know, it's come a long way," Gamble said.

More is on the way including a new Wendy's restaurant and the long-awaited free standing Shore Regional Health Medical Center.

Developer Hunter Fairchild says plans for more office spaces could be also coming. Rumors of a new Chik-Fil-A aren't far-fetched either.

"I can't quite comment on that yet but I would say that their construction is coming along very well," Fairchild said.

Many of the businesses could start opening as soon as this month and continue to do so into Spring 2020.
