SEAFORD, Del.- A 20-year Delaware State Police veteran is now the city of Seaford's new police chief.
Marshall Craft, who has lived in Seaford for the past 24 years, was sworn in as the new chief Monday morning.
Leadership development will be one of Craft's priorities in his new role.
"[We're] really tasking him to raise up our next generation of leaders," Seaford Mayor David Genshaw said. "We really hope that over the next five to seven years we will be raising up an internal candidate for our police chief."
Craft said he'd also like to strengthen relations between officers and the community.
Craft replaces Robert Kracyla, who served less than a year as the city's chief. Kracyla left to take over the Middletown Police Department.
