Shoppers Urged to Remember Small Businesses

SALISBURY, Md. - Changes are coming to North Salisbury. Soon, the Panera Bread restaurant will no longer be there. Instead, the restaurant will be relocating a few miles up the road. In it's place, another unnamed fast-casual restaurant will open up. Meanwhile, the Barnes & Noble sign will also look a little bit different.

Wesley Cox with SVN Miller says it's a positive sign that business is booming in the area.

"Retail is not dead," Cox said. "With everything growing strong with other aspects of the economy, we're going to continue to see strong retail demand from retailers to locate here because it's what consumers are asking for."

Panera's new location will offer a different setting including a stand alone building and a drive-through - something many customers see as a plus.

More options including a new upscale, waterfront Italian restaurant that will be located next to the new Panera.

SVN Miller also says they have another retailer new to the area interested in the Pier One store that will be closing soon.

So far, no name has been released.

SVN Miller says changes will start later in 2020.
