SOUTH BETHANY BEACH, Del.- Neighbors and friends of Linda Bravo gathered Monday night to honor her memory in a candlelit vigil.
The community gathered at 8:30 p.m. on the intersection of Anchorage Drive and Route 1, to remember Bravo who is described as loving mother and grandmother.
The Urbans coordinated the vigil because they wanted to do something nice to remember their neighbor.
“From what I can tell with the information that was provided by the South Bethany police and the coordinates, this was the last known intersection at the time of the last known ping of her cellphone," says Duane Urban.
Duane and his son Steven were a part of the search group that went to Fenwick Island on June 22.
In a statement released by the family to Martin Schmidt Jr, with the Facebook page Late Breaking Delaware News, they thanked the community and law enforcement saying:
The response of the Bethany Beach and surrounding communities has been overwhelming. Linda truly lived in a wonderful, safe and loving community. Linda was a very special Grandmother, mother, mother-in-law and friend. She will live on in the wonderful memories we all have of the times we shared with her.
According to an online obituary, Linda was a proud grandmother of five. She's described as "The center point of her family." She left behind two sons and three beloved dogs, Henry, Louis, and George.
Al Casapula helped the pets find a home in Ocean View with Sue Dick.
"He’s been helping me learn how to walk three at one time and ones on special medication for a heart issue," says Dick.
A memorial service is scheduled for later this week, the family is asking to those who want to honor her memory that, instead of flowers, they donate to a non-profit organization that helps rescue dogs. This was a cause very dear to her heart.
The South Bethany Police Department is conducting a death investigation with the assistance of the Delaware State Police CRU, Troop 4 detectives and the Bethany Beach Police Department. According to the South Bethany Police Department, Bravo's death has been ruled as an accidental drowning.
