GEORGETOWN, Del.- A Millsboro man accused of gunning down another man to keep him from talking about a robbery he committed has been found guilty of murder.

The Delaware Department of Justice said Friday that on Nov. 17, 2016, a passerby discovered 30-year-old Darrin Gibbs of Millsboro lying face down on Monroe Street in Millsboro with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

Witness testimony, ballistics evidence, and video surveillance ultimately identified one of Gibbs’ associates, A.J. McMullen, as the shooter.

Investigators said they discovered that McMullen committed the murder to prevent Gibbs from talking about a robbery that McMullen committed against a drug dealer.

McMullen was found guilty in a bench trial of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and will be sentenced in February.
