EASTON, Md.- Two men are facing multiple charges following accusations that they attacked and robbed a man walking down an Easton street.
Easton police said that shortly after 1 p.m. Feb. 1, an officer was in the area of Dover and Higgins streets when he was waved down by two men and a woman.
Police said that one of men was out of breath, bleeding around his mouth and had marks on his face and neck. According to police, the victim was walking in the area of South Higgins Street and South Lane when he saw an older man, later identified as Jesse J. Williams, 66, of Easton, in the area. The victim said he stopped to talk to him and they began to walk together.
Police said that as the victim and Williams were walking near the area of Asbury Place on South Higgins Street, the victim took out his wallet to give Williams some money.
According to investigators, while the victim was holding his wallet in his hand, a second man, later identified as Michael J. Brown, 24, of Easton, came out of nowhere and took the wallet. A scuffle began and the victim was held down as Brown took money out of the victim’s pocket, according to police. Both Brown and Williams then reportedly fled the scene.
Brown was charged with robbery, second-degree assault, theft: $1,500-$25,000, false imprisonment, credit card theft and conspiracy. He was ordered held without bond.
Williams was charged with robbery, second-degree assault, theft: $100-$1,500, false imprison and conspiracy. He was released on a $15,000 unsecured bond.
