WRDE Coast TV Launches Local News

MILTON, Del. - WBOC went behind the scenes at WRDE Coast TV to introduce the new coastal news team.

WRDE is the first television station in the country to feature state-of-the-art Sony technology that allows the broadcast to be directed from WBOC's Newsplex in Salisbury, while the news anchors deliver the news from Milton.

"WRDE is the only commercial television station in Delaware. We're live, we're local and it's coverage you can count on every night, right here in Delaware," said Bill Shull, WRDE's News Director.

WRDE news is co-anchored by local news veterans Matt Pencek and Madeleine Overturf. Both said they are thrilled to cover the coast, a place they now call home.

."Matt has children in Sussex County schools and my fiance is raised and born in Sussex County. This is really our adopted home I would say and we're really honored to be starting something new in this wonderful place.," said Overturf.

WRDE's Chief Meteorologist is Paul Williams. On weeknights, Williams delivers a concise and accurate weather forecast of the Delmarva Peninsula.

"I don't just say, partly cloudy, partly sunny, here's some stats, that's not even my personality. I'm more of a storyteller. That's what I am by nature and that's one of my strengths," said Williams.

WRDE has a team of Sussex County based reporters that will be on the streets everyday covering stories that matter.

Watch WRDE's full hour broadcast Monday to Friday at 5:30pm and then a half hour broadcast at 11pm. On weekends, watch a half hour broadcast at 6pm and 11pm.
