GEORGETOWN, Del. - WBOC's third annual job fair kicked off today at Delaware Technical Community College. Over a thousand people were in attendance applying to over 50 companies.
Recruiters from Hertrich, Perdue, Beebe Healthcare and over 50 more companies gathered for the same goal, to find fresh talent.
"We've probably had 50 or 60 so far so far at our table and like I said we've had approximately 30-32 so far that have gone through the whole entire process that we have available here today," said Warden Walter West from Maryland Department of Safety & Correctional Services.
Many are now a step ahead of the application process as recruiters held interviews for potential candidates.
"I actually have been lucky and had an interview with perdue, fortunately, they are looking for an IT position right now and they said they would be reaching out to me and I'd be having a phone interview with them soon so I'm very thankful for that, I actually just graduated from University of Delaware so I'm hoping to get on the job market pretty soon," said local resident Brandon Gay.
No matter what experience or background job hunters have, recruiters say it's important to keep an open mind.
"An advantage to coming out here and meeting us face to face is that I met with a candidate today that didn't realize we had home health positions available and then speaking with her she is a potential candidate now," added Patricia Holland, from Beebe Healthcare.
"I wanna encourage people to think outside the box, sometimes the position that you don't think you're really qualified for you might be overly qualified for and we want you.," said Krissy from Hertrich Ford.
Many entered jobless, and now leave hopeful, as they may have found potential careers.
