SALISBURY, Md.– Boscov’s Chairman and CEO Jim Boscov was on hand at the regional department chain's Salisbury location Wednesday afternoon to announce the store will be celebrating its 30th anniversary this fall with a grand re-opening.
An 18,000-square=foot expansion is currently underway on the north end of the building located in the Centre at Salisbury mall. Remodeling is also taking place inside the store. Boscov says the grand re-opening will show off its expanded, remodeled and modernized store.
News of Boscov’s expansion as well as the fact it will be celebrating 30 years in Salisbury comes at a time recently when news at the Centre at Salisbury has largely been doom and gloom.
Earlier this month Macy’s announced it would be closing its anchor-store at the mall in March. Days later Pier One Exports announced it would close roughly 450 of its 900 stores, with the chain's locations in Salisbury, Dover and Ocean City appearing to be among them.
Boscov attributes his company’s continued to success to both the people who work at the company and the customers who continue to shop there.
"I'm proud of the fact that there were six people I could call up today that have been with us since the store opened 30 years ago,” Boscov said. “And that 20% of the business we did last year came from customers who have been with us for 20 years or more."
Details surrounding the grand-reopening this fall will be announced later this year.
