Salisbury Man Convicted on Child Sex Charges

SALISBURY, Md.- A Wicomico County Circuit Court jury has convicted a Salisbury man of sexually abusing two children over the course of several years. 

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, Joseph Darnell Townsend, 37, was found guilty of two counts of sex abuse of a minor by household or family member and three counts of third-degree sex offense.

Sentencing was postponed pending the completion of a mandatory pre-sentence investigation and mental health evaluation.

Prosecutors said that between December 2015 and May 2019, Townsend sexually assaulted two victims, both under the age of 16, in a home in Salisbury.
