School Bus Rear-ended in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md.- Maryland State Police say an 85-year-old woman has been charged with negligent driving after the car she was driving rear-ended a school bus on the Route 13 Bypass in Salisbury on Tuesday afternoon. 

Police said it happened at around 2:30 p.m. on the southbound portion of the bypass prior to Business Route 50. 

According to police, Wicomico County Public Schools bus with 22 Mardela High School students on board was slowing for traffic, which had become backed up for another crash. Police said that it was at this time Hassie Hazel Mitchell, 85, of Ocean City, failed to slow down and rear-ended the bus. While the collision caused minor damage to the bus, it left the car disabled. 

Troopers said everyone involved in the crash refused medical treatment. The car was towed from the scene.
