ANNAPOLIS, MD– A group of Maryland lawmakers announced more than $28 million earmarked to improve road safety throughout the state’s communities, including areas on the Eastern Shore.
In a joint statement, U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin and Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer, Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Kweisi Mfume, Jamie Raskin, David Trone, and Glenn Ivey (all D-MD) explained the funds will come from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
“[These funds] will upgrade our roads, make them safer for our communities, and shorten commute times for the millions of hardworking Marylanders who depend on public infrastructure every day,” they said.
The following grants were designated for communities on Delmarva:
Cambridge will receive $320,000 to create a Vision Zero plan and improve bicycle accessibility.
