Incumbent Mike Lewis has won the Republican primary for Wicomico County Sheriff.

SALISBURY, Md. - Incumbent Mike Lewis has won the Republican primary for Wicomico County Sheriff. 

Sheriff Lewis secured 76.14% percent of the vote against challenger Scott Hamilton on Tuesday, June 23. Hamilton currently serves as the President of the Wicomico County Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #111.

Lewis is seeking his fourth consecutive term after first being elected in 2006. During his tenure, he led the Drug Interdiction Program along Maryland Route 13 corridor, coordinating investigations following the seizures of illegal contraband. 

Lewis will now go on to face Democratic challenger Lana Foley who ran unopposed in the Democratic primary for Sheriff. Foley's campaign messaging has been focused around transparency, supporting the community and addressing mental health needs and poverty.

He has lived in New York, California, and Virginia before he and his wife finally found a place to permanently call home in Maryland.
