OCEAN CITY, Md.- The town of Ocean City is ready for the largest event it's hosted, Oceans Calling with 50,000 tickets sold. Ocean City's Director of Tourism and Business Development Tom Perlozzo says despite some challenges brought on by tropical storm Ophelia, the venue is ready for it's start Friday at noon.
"The weather has definitely challenged us the last couple of days. The high tide came into play but thank God it receded in enough time it didn't affect any of the work area. The wind obviously, we had some delays hanging the LED walls next to the main stages," said Perlozzo.
Perlozzo said this year the town added an addition 15,000 tickets for sale. This year the town is also trying to draw in more businesses.
"The big thing this year is being able to encompass the boardwalk. Last year, we did not or were not permitted to do that. This year we went back and we were able to talk to businesses into being inside the footprint which will allow them to generate some income."
Oceans Calling begins at noon September 29-October 1 and is finished at 11 in the evening. More information can be found here.
