OCEAN CITY, MD - The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) State Highway Administration has announced upcoming overnight closures on a nearly 12-mile stretch of MD 90 (Ocean City Expressway) for maintenance work.

MDOT says they will close Rt 90 between US 50 (Ocean Gateway) and MD 528 (Coastal Highway) for maintenance beginning Sunday, April 13 overnight from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. The closure will occur nightly, with work expected to be completed on Thursday, April 17, according to MDOT.

During the maintenance work, drivers will be directed to US 50 to downtown Ocean City to Coastal Highway. MDOT says drivers should add about 30 minutes to their commute while the work is underway.

Maintenance planned for Rt 90 include guardrail repair, bridge patching, drainage inlet cleaning, and debris removal.

“The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers,” MDOT officials said in a press release. “Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.”

Drivers who need roadside assistance are asked to dial #77.
