OCEAN CITY, Md.- A staple in Ocean City has shut its doors after 66 years in business.
Phillips Seafood shared a post on Facebook announcing that Phillips Crab House, located at 2004 Philadelphia Ave., has permanently closed.
The post thanked all those who supported the crab house throughout the years.
“Over our 66 seasons in business, we’ve served millions of families, vacationers and OC locals, and our family feels so fortunate to have earned the loyalty of our guests, who came back year after year to build their vacation memories with us,” Phillips Seafood said. “Thank you for being such a wonderful part of our story.”
The Ocean City location was where Phillips Seafood got its start in before growing into a large international company.
While the company did not provide specifics about why it is closing its crab house in Ocean City, it said its other locations in Maryland will remain open.
"As we move forward, we will continue to build on the strong foundation that our original Crab House location gave us," the business said. "We remain firmly planted in Maryland and will dedicate our resources in support of our Baltimore restaurant location, Baltimore culinary center and the growth of our retail, club, food service, and international business.”
