POCOMOKE CITY, MD - The Worcester County State’s Attorney has announced the sentencing of a Pocomoke man who pleaded guilty to possession of a gun during a drug trafficking crime.
According to State’s Attorney Kris Heiser, Jael Ghent, 22, was indicted following a July 2023 search of his home in Pocomoke. The State’s Attorney says investigators seized a loaded semi-automatic Glock handgun, plastic bags containing crack cocaine, digital scales, and prescription medication from Ghent’s residence. Ghent was charged with various felony violations including possession with intent to distribute and the possession of a gun during a drug trafficking crime.
On Friday, May 10th, the State’s Attorney’s Office says Ghent pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 14 years with all but 5 years suspended. Ghent was also sentenced to 3 years supervised probation upon his release.
