LAUREL, Del.-A police pursuit has reportedly led to the arrest of a Smyrna man in Laurel. Thirty-two year old Roy Kolaco is facing multiple charges after the Monday night incident.
Around 9:30, Laurel Police say an officer tried to conduct a traffic stop in the area of West 6th Street and Howard Street. The suspect, identified as Kolaco, reportedly began driving recklessly on Greene Avenue, almost hitting a pedestrian and nearly crashing into other cars.
The briefly came to a stop on Dogwood Lane. Police tried to give Kolaco commands to surrender, but he allegedly intentionally collided with one of the patrol cars. Kolaco hit another patrol car and an unoccupied storage shed on Horsey Church Road, according to police. Eventually, the crashes rendered the patrol car and Kolaco's car disabled.
Kolaco then took off on foot, according to police, but was quickly apprehended. A search of his car reportedly led to the discovery of heroin and marijuana. Kolaco was transported by ambulance to Nanticoke ER for complaints of minor pain. He was then taken to Laurel Police Department for processing.
The Smyrna man was unable to be arraigned due to potential impairment according to police. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an intoxication hold until he was fit for presentment.
Kolaco was arraigned and released on Tuesday on his own recognizance.
