CHESTER, Md. - A Centreville woman has been arrested following what police describe as a high-speed DUI car chase in Queen Anne’s County over the weekend.
According to the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was driving south on Rt. 18 at about 7 p.m. on June 28 when another car crossed over the center line, nearly striking him head-on. The deputy swerved to avoid the crash before making a U-turn to follow the car.

Police say the deputy attempted to catch up to the vehicle and watched it crash into a culvert ditch and field near Castle Marina Road. The car then re-entered the road in the wrong direction on Castle Marina Road and then onto westbound Rt. 50. A pursuit was authorized as the car continued to drive erratically, striking a concrete barrier and travelling between multiple lanes of traffic at about 100 mph, according to authorities Police say the chase finally ended at the base of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge after the car struck multiple traffic cones and two guardrails before spinning to a stop.
The Sheriff’s Office says the driver, 27-year-old Carolyn Miller, of Centreville, was found with multiple alcoholic beverages inside the car. Miller later submitted a BAC test resulting in .22, more than twice the legal limit.
Miller now faces numerous charges including DUI, reckless driving, negligent driving, and various other traffic violations.
