QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY, Md. — A proposed solar project near Centreville is drawing opposition from local leaders and conservation advocates who say the development could impact productive farmland and land designated for future growth.

U.S. Sens. Chris Van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks announced nearly $69.5 million in federal funding for dozens of community projects across Maryland, including several on the Eastern Shore.

One person is dead following a crash involving a dump truck on Rt. 301 in Queen Anne’s County on Thursday, according to Maryland State Police.
