CENTREVILLE, Md. - Officials with the Gunston School in Centreville say they have successfully completed a new roof system on the Paul M. Long Academic Building. The project was made possible by a $150,000 Bond Initiative approved by the State of Maryland.
Gunston welcomed lawmakers who helped secure the funding to campus for a firsthand look at the upgrades, a tour, and to take a commemorative photo with school leadership and members of the student government. Delegates present also spoke to students about public service and the importance of civic engagement, school officials say.
They say the roof upgrade resolves a long-standing facility need for the building. It was originally constructed in 1971 and houses ten classrooms and three science labs, serving 257 students during the school year and nearly 1,100 participants in summer programs.
