LAUREL, Del. - The Delaware State Police say they are investigating after a man was struck and killed by a car in Laurel on Saturday, August 15.
They say it happened around 9:20 p.m. A Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on Sussex Highway approaching Oasis Drive. At the same time, a pedestrian was walking westbound across the roadway when he was struck by the Toyota.
The pedestrian, a 41-year-old man from Laurel, was taken to a hospital where he later died. Police say his name is not being released until his family can be notified.
According to police, the driver of the Toyota, a 21-year-old man from Laurel, was not injured in the crash. The roadway was closed for about 3 hours while the crash was investigated and the scene was cleared.
