LONG NECK, Del.- The Dave Dolby Amvets Sussex Post 2 is spending its Friday giving back to the family of fallen Delmar Police Officer Cpl. Keith Heacook.
On Friday from noon to ten p.m., anyone is invited to the post located on Long Neck Road. Burgers, t-shirts, and signature "red, white, and back the blue crushes" will be sold. Those with the post say all proceeds will go to the Heacook family.
"At the post we kind of create a small community that anyone can come in," says Britanie Farren. "Whether they are police, military, active, veteran, or family members of military-- just a place that everyone can just gather and hang out and be together as one. That's what our main mission is: to ensure everyone is treated fairly and you will always will have a home with us."
The fundraiser will also have a 50/50 raffle and the Blue Collar Boys will perform at 7 p.m. Farren says the post has open membership events--and the non-profit's goal is to serve the community.
