DOVER, Del.- The Delaware Daughters of the American Revolution have nominated the green sea turtle to have the designation of State Reptile.
House Bill 101 was introduced in the Delaware state house Friday.
Green sea turtles are found in Delaware marine waters as cited in the bill.
They are also endangered species.
They bill says the designation would support the reptile's conservation by raising awareness of its declining numbers.
There will now be a committee hearing on the matter within twelve legislative days.
Many other states have state reptiles.
