DOVER, Del.- Organizers of Firefly Music Festival 2020 announced Tuesday afternoon that they have canceled this year's event.
On the home page of the festival's website, organizers wrote, "At the direction of state and local authorities and federal guidelines amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we are saddened to confirm the cancellation of Firefly Music Festival 2020. We take the safety and health of our fans, staff and community seriously and we urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials."
The festival was slated to be held June 18-21 at The Woodlands at Dover International Speedway in Dover.
“Similar to the disappointment we felt when we received the news about our postponed May 1-3 NASCAR race weekend, those same feelings hold true for the canceled Firefly Music Festival," said Mike Tatoian, president and CEO of Dover International Speedway. "Given the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19, both of these decisions were difficult but necessary. The health and safety of our fans and our country takes precedence over live sports and entertainment events.”
Festival organizers said all Firefly 2020 ticket holders who purchased tickets through the event's official ticket provider, Elevate, will receive a full refund or, if they choose, may transfer their ticket to Firefly 2021. People receiving refuns will receive an email outlining the refund and transfer process by Friday, March 27, 2020. Organizers said anyone who does not receive an email or has any questions, please contact Festival Ticketing Support by emailing support@festivalticketing.com. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. MST (Arizona Time).
