SMYRNA, Del.- A former brownfield in northern Kent County, Del. may soon be re-purposed.
The town of Smyrna said Monday preliminary plans are in place to turn a former factory and industrial site along Glenwood Avenue into a farmer's market. The site sat vacant for years.
Many people who live in the area said it is important to put something in the building that can be used by a lot of people.
"People being able to make a little money, being able to put a table there, I like it," said Joseph Freel of Smyrna. "They're going to have a lot of spots open, but anyone looking to open a business or expand something."
Smyrna's town manager cautioned there is still a lot of work to be done before the plan comes to fruition. The town recently annexed the property.
