Man Trimming Tree Falls to His Death in Harrington

HARRINGTON, Del.- Delaware State Police say a man died Monday after he fell 40 feet from a bucket truck while trimming a tree in Harrington. 

It happened shortly after 10 a.m. on the 12000 block of Pin Oak Lane. Troopers said that when they arrived on the scene, paramedics were attending to a 59-year-old man. Police said further investigation revealed that the victim was cutting down a tree branch when the branch snapped and struck the boom lift in which the victim was standing in. Troopers said the victim fell out of the bucket and approximately 40 feet to the ground.

The victim was transported to the Sussex Bayhealth Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  His body was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. The man's name is being withheld at this time.

The case continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit.
