DOVER, Del. - Delaware is continuing to reopen its economy, and this week, personal care services are beginning to reopen.
Gov. John Carney gave personal care services the go ahead to reopen at 30 percent capacity starting Monday at 8 a.m. But some businesses weren't ready to reopen quite yet.
Tammy Parris was forced to close Parris Nail Lounge back in March. And while she can reopen her doors officially, she is holding off, waiting for backed up supplies to arrive from New York and California.
"With them not reopening, it's hard to get the supplies that we need. Not just medical supplies, the PPE and the protective equipment, but also equipment that his been sitting that needs to be re-bought," explained Parris.
She went on to explain that while the nail lounge's services were already personalized, her customers will see service that is even more one-on-one focused. Only two clients will be in at a time, and tag along guests will not be allowed for now.
The salon will also use disposable pumice stones and nail files on each client. They already use high heat sterilization for their non-disposable tools.
"We want clients to be well aware of what their services are, and how we perform them, so they too are educated on their own health while they're having these services done," said Parris.
Also allowed to reopen - tattoo parlors.
Lucky Sinakhom of Tattoo Galaxy in Rehoboth Beach says they are ready for business.
"We're only letting clients in to get tattooed, no accompanying people allowed in with them, just one client one artist. Hand washing stations, hand sanitizer, everything is sanitized pre and post. Our whole life is making sure we aren't spreading anything, so for us it's not much different," explained Sinakhom. Hair salons, barber shops, and other services are also allowed to open at 30 percent capacity. However, an appointment is needed.
