Police: Harbeson Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

HARBESON, Del.- A 40-year-old Harbeson man was arrested Wednesday after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs, according to the Delaware State Police.

Troopers say it happened shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday when officers were made aware that James Gerleve III was driving while suspended in a Cadillac SUV with large rims.

Officers say they found the vehicle in the Royal Farms parking lot located at 26454 Lewes-Georgetown Highway, Harbeson. Gerleve was inside and threw suspected drugs out of the passenger window when officers approached, according to police.

State Police say approximately 6.05 grams of Methamphetamine was recovered from the scene.

Gerleve was arrested and charged with, Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 1 (Felony), tampering With Physical Evidence (Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, according to police. 

Police say Gerleve was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on his own recognizance.
