DAGSBORO, Del.- Delaware State Police is looking into a serious crash involving multiple vehicles that left one man in critical condition.

On Saturday, February 2, 2019,  just before 10 a.m., a 62-year-old Dagsboro man was driving a truck westbound on Clayton Road when he came to a red light at an intersection with DuPont Boulevard.  A 39-year-old Millsboro man driving an SUV in the eastbound lane on Nine Foot Road was stopped directly across the Dagsboro man. A FedEx truck, driven by a 53-year-old Ocean View man, was stopped directly behind the Millsboro man.

For reason unknown, police say the Dagsboro man accelerated through the intersection. The Dagsboro man went through both northbound and southbound travel lanes of DuPont Boulevard.

After crossing through the intersection, the Dagsboro man entered into the eastbound lane on Nine Foot Road.

The front end of the Dagsboro man's truck collided with the front end of the Millsboro man's SUV. The impact on the truck forced the SUV backwards, hitting the FedEx truck behind him.

Police say it is still unclear whether or not Dagsboro driver suffered a medical issue that led to the collision. He was transported to the Christiana Hospital by helicopter and remains in critical condition.

The driver and two passengers of the SUV only sustained minor injuries and were taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital as a precautionary measure.

The driver of the FedEx truck was not injured.

Nine Foot Road was closed west of DuPont Boulevard for approximately three hours during the investigation.
