CHESWOLD, Del.- Delaware State Police have released the name of a 42-year-old man who died after his pickup truck collided with a tour bus near Cheswold late Tuesday night.
Troopers identified the victim as John E. Lowman 3rd, 42, of Kenton.
Police say the accident happened at about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 13 south of Cheswold when a northbound tour bus slowed for a traffic light at Jerome Drive. Police say Lowman, who was driving a Ford F-150, rear-ended the bus. Investigators say the tour bus immediately pulled over, at which time the pickup truck spun slightly and stopped.
Lowman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The operator of the bus, a 47-year-old New York man, was not injured in the collision.
The bus was carrying four passengers traveling to Chinatown in New York City.
Police say none of the passengers was injured in the collision and all were released from the scene.
The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
