Bed Bugs Discovered at Caroline County Public Library

DENTON, Md.- All Caroline County Public Library locations are back open after getting proactive treatments for bedbugs.

Officials say as of noon Thursday, a sniffer dog returned to the North County Greensboro location to verify that the suspicious bedbug areas were clear. All of the county's library locations are now open to the public and operating normally.

Library Director Debby Bennett says the library has taken every precaution to make sure the collection is safe and that the library is free of the bugs.

"As this issue continues to arise in hotels, homes, libraries and other public spaces, we will remain vigilant." Bennett said, "Library staff members have been trained to recognize signs of bedbugs and will continue to inspect all materials that are returned to the library. We appreciate our customers’ support and patience.”

Library customers are now able to return their materials to all locations. Any late fees will be waived for the period that the libraries were closed.
