SALISBURY, Md.- For decades Vernon Powell Shoes has served the community starting downtown Salisbury in 1936.
Since then they've added a location in Seaford, six more in Salisbury and one in Rehoboth Beach.
Years later the owners chose to consolidate to two locations which increased sales by 40%.
Vernon Powell's grandson, Phil Wright, says it's all because of loyal customers and that buying local keeps the money in the community.
"We contribute a lot of support to the community in various ways.. donations and runs and whatever we can do," said Wright.
The owners say they are celebrating their 85th year in business on Delmarva next year.
