Cambridge Fire Causes $1 Million in Damage

CAMBRIDGE, Del.- A fire that broke out Wednesday evening at a commercial building in Cambridge remained under investigation Thursday morning.

Just around 5:30 p.m., fire officials were called to the Edige building on the unit block of Washington Street.

According to the company's website, the building is responsible for the "assembly, control, and service of glass to metal packages. This led to Hazmat team being requested to the scene for the chemicals in the building.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the fire caused approximately $300,000 in damage to the structure and another $700,000 in damage to its contents. The three-alarm fire took 75 firefighters six hours to get under control.

No injuries were reported.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
