CAMBRIDGE, Md.- The City of Cambridge honored acting Capitol Chief of Police Yogananda Pittman Monday.
She grew up in the city and gave remarks at the virtual ceremony Monday night.
Mayor Andrew made an official mayor's proclamation on her behalf recognizing her service to the community and the country.
Bradshaw said he wanted to honor her for Black History Month and leading up to Women's History Month.
"We're just absolutely proud that we've got a daughter of the City of Cambridge who has reached the heights that she has and still has an acknowledgement and remembrance of where she came from and a love for that place," said Mayor Bradshaw.
Acting Chief Pittman was appointed to her role after the then chief resigned following the January 6 Capitol riot.
