HUD Awards Salisbury $400K for Economic Development, Housing Programs

SALISBURY, Md.- The City of Salisbury has been awarded $399,903 in community and economic development grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The grants are part of a statewide $87.1 million awarded to Maryland to support activities, ranging from increasing the availability of affordable housing to combating homelessness. 

$5.5 billion has been awarded in total across the country. 

The grants are being provided through five different HUD programs: 

  • The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) gives grants to develop viable urban communities.

  • The HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds activities including building, buying, and/or rehabilitating affordable housing.

  • The Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) grants provide rental housing assistance for persons living with HIV/AIDS and their families.

  • Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) provides funds to combat homelessness. 

  • The Recovery Housing Program (RHP) helps provide transitional housing for people in recovery from substance use disorders.
