Contract Awarded to Move Talbot Boys Statue

EASTON, Md. - On June 19th, the Move the Monument Coalition held a rally outside of the Talbot County Courthouse demanding County Council move the Talbot Boys Statue off the front lawn.

The confederate monument has been the center of controversy since the death of George Floyd last year.

The coalition says they do not want the statue permanently removed, but moved elsewhere in town, saying that it does not belong outside of building that represents justice and equality.

Organizers of the event say the statue does not reflect the sentiments of the residents of Talbot County.

Chants of "Take it down" were heard throughout the rally.

The event had many guest speakers, including Speaker Pro Tempore of the Maryland House of Delegates, Sheree Sample-Hughes.

All in attendance agree, the statue needs to be moved elsewhere.
