Hebron Carnival Opens With Security Upgrades

2016 Hebron Carnival (WBOC)

HEBRON, Md.- The Hebron Volunteer Fire Department announced Tuesday that it has canceled this year's Hebron Fireman’s Carnival. The department also announced the cancellation of this year's Fourth of July fireworks event.

In a Facebook post, the department said, "With the unknown time of restrictions and uncertainty of large crowd gatherings and social distancing requirements set by the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we felt this was the best decision for our department and the health and safety of our patrons."

The department further said this decision was tough, as the carnival has operated every year for the past 92 years."

The department said money donated for this year's fireworks event will go toward the 2021 event.

In order to generate income needed for its operation, the department said it will have a 300day cash giveaway in September. According to the department, 2,500 tickets will be the maximum number of tickets sold for the event, with each ticket having four numbers. The winning numbers will be based on the Maryland Lottery Pick 4 midday and evening drawings. Cash prizes will range from $1,500 to $10,000, based on the day of the week.

Tickets will cost $50 each and a minimum of 1,800 tickets will need to be sold to have the event. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here or contact any member of the department.
