UPDATED: Ocean City Restaurant Offers Free Meals to Furloughed Government Employees During Shutdown

OCEAN CITY, Md.- The Dough Roller in Ocean City is offering free meals to all furloughed government employees until the end of the shutdown.

The restaurant highlighted the U.S. Coast Guard, considering it is the only branch of the military that is not being paid during the partial government shutdown because it is part of the Department of Homeland Security. The company also highlights federal workers like the Federal Park Rangers in Assateague who are on furlough.

Starting on January 14, 2019, local Coast Guard employees can stop at the restaurant for one free meal, per day, per ID. All you have to do is show your Coast Guard Government ID at the restaurant.

According to the Dough Roller, free meals include (Dine in or Carry-Out): 

  • Little Roller: Two buttermilk pancakes, one egg, and choice of breakfast meat 
  • Big Roller: Three buttermilk pancakes, two eggs and choice of breakfast meat
  • Personal 1 Topping Pizza 
  • Medium 1 Topping Pizza 

The Dough Roller says this offer will last until the government passes sufficient appropriation bills.

The restaurant is located on 41st Street and on 70th Street in Ocean City, Maryland.
