SALISBURY, Md. - Sheriff Mike Lewis has announced he has filed to seek a fifth term as Wicomico County Sheriff.
Lewis was first elected sheriff in 2006. The sheriff said his main goal was "to make Wicomico County the best place to live for our hard-working citizens and the worst place to live for criminals that were intent on preying on our citizens, especially our youth."
The sheriff said the decision to file was "an easy decision after seeing the office's successes against both drug traffickers and violent criminals."
The election for sheriff takes place in 2022. So far, no one has filed to challenge Lewis for the job.
