MAPPSVILLE, Va. - Virginia State Police said one person was seriously hurt in a car crash Tuesday morning. It happened shortly after 9 a.m. on Route 13 in the area of the 14000 block of Lankford Highway. According to state police, a driver stopped on Turkey Run Road before pulling out onto Route 13 and into the path of a tractor-trailer driving southbound. After the two collided, the tractor-trailer ran off the roadway and into the northbound lanes of Route 13 before hitting a wooded area. Meanwhile, the car spun out of control and the driver became entrapped. The driver of the car, identified as Ginger Debbie Hatton, was air lifted to Norfolk General for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
