ACCOMACK, Va.- Democratic Incumbent Lynwood Lewis has secured the State Senate Seat for District 6, which serves all of Accomack and Northampton counties, as well as parts of Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Matthews County. Lewis received 25,361 votes to earn the District 6 Senate seat. Opponent Republican Elizabeth A. Lankford received 17,187 votes. Virginia is holding an off-year election but a lot hangs in the balance. Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam is not up for election and Republicans held a slim majority in both the state House and Senate heading into Tuesday's election with Democrats hoping to take control of the statehouse and the governor's mansion for the first time in more than two decades.
