OAK HALL, Va.- Virginia State Police are investigating an alleged arson and homicide after man was found dead Saturday night.
State police were called to the 6000 block of Lankford Hwy. around 9:30 p.m. after the New Church Fire department found the body of 62-year-old Edward Bruce Mears Jr.
The home is near the Maryland state line, and it was discovered that earlier in the day, a similar incident had happened in Worcester County, Maryland.
According to police, the investigation is being treated as a suspicious death, possible homicide and arson.
The Virginia State Police is reaching out to the community for any witnesses in the area of Lankford Highway in Oak Hill, or in the vicinity of the area prior to, or after the incident, who may have possible information.
