Cars in Rehoboth

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE — The challenge of finding parking near the Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach might see some relief in the upcoming summer, following the completion of a recent engineering survey conducted by engineering firm Rossi Group.

This Monday, preliminary recommendations were presented to city commissioners, aiming to address the persistent parking and traffic concerns. Proposed solutions include extending the paid-parking season, introducing demand-based rates, and even considering the construction of a parking garage.

Kevin Williams, the Public Works Director, said all these ideas will be considered in the future, but, some minor changes might be implemented for the next season. These include enhanced signage for 30-minute spots, clearer crosswalks, and optimizing signal timing.

“Something we can do with in house forces, just as we do our normal season prep for the summer.” said Williams.

He says they want to make things easier on everyone as folks continue to come in to the city.

“We’re pretty limited, we’re not making any new space, any new land, so it’s hard to balance the needs of the visitors, the residents that we’re here, and the local business community. A lot of competing demands, but we try to balance those needs with whatever we do." continued Williams.
