Restaurants Hope Senate Passes More Funding
- Updated

SALISBURY, Md.- Some restaurants on the Eastern Shore say they could use another round of funding from the federal government. This week the US Senate will vote on sending restaurants more funding, known as the Restaurant Relief Fund (RRF). Bill Chambers, President/CEO
of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce says restaurants desperately need the help.
"If the RRF money isn't approved, we are going to see restaurants close. You're gonna see with inflation, the economy the way it is right now, some economist predict we are heading into a recession, you're gonna see many restaurant owners say I've had enough, this isn't sustainable, the model is not there, the food prices are off the chart, I'm just going to have to sell my business," said
The $42 billion spending package is on this week's agenda but no date tied for a vote. Mogan's Manager Mike Daley says the help would be appreciate but they are not holding their breath.
"We're... we're cautious it's going to pass at all. We're not really sure that the votes exist," said Daley.
Peter Roskovich says even if it does pass, he's not hopeful his restaurant, Adam's Taphouse Grille, will see any funding. The restaurant missed out during the first round of funding.
"I mean I think our government and the administration has done a horrible job. Businesses are going to go out of business this is for real," said Roskovich.
Chambers agrees that lots of restaurants will be impacted.
"It changes a community. When you've had a restaurant in a small town that's been family owned for decades, just like family farms, it changes when that restaurant ceases to exist. The whole dynamic of that community is altered... and that's a sad thing," said Chambers.
Sill, Roskovich thinks they'll be okay.
"I think we'll be ok cause like I said we're scrappy we can pick it up we can work extra hours to make it happen and we hustle with the catering side of our business some business don't have that opportunity and we have a banquet hall as well you know so we have a lot of opportunities for revenue," said Roskovich.
