SERIOUS CRASH GENERIC

GEORGETOWN, DE– A portion of Dupont Boulevard was closed for investigation after emergency crews responded to a fatal pedestrian crash Tuesday morning.

Georgetown Fire Company and EMS responded to the area of the Classic Motel at 20762 Dupont Boulevard (US113) around 5 a.m. on April 22 for reports of a pedestrian struck. 

Police say a Chevrolet truck was driving north when a 38-year-old man walked into the road for currently unknown reasons. The truck then struck the man, killing him. His identity is currently being withheld. 

The driver of the truck, a 62-year-old man from Lewes and his passenger were not injured.

DelDOT announced a closure of the northbound lanes at West North Street around 5:20 a.m., with a detour via Edward Street. The road was closed for about 3 hours.

Georgetown Police and Delaware State Police are investigating, and the Georgetown Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash to call them at 302-856-6613.
