STEVENSVILLE, MD - Aviation authorities are conducting an investigation after a small plane crashed at the Bay Bridge Airport in Queen Anne’s County on Wednesday.

According to Queen Anne’s County officials, a four-seat Cirrus plane veered off the runway shortly after landing in the morning of April 30. The aircraft then continued into a marsh near the runway, sustaining significant damage, according to officials.

Maryland State Police say the pilot and sole occupant of the plane was evaluated on the scene and luckily reported no injuries.

A local fire department has since cleared the scene, according to officials, and both federal and state aviation authorities are investigating.

While there was no damage to the runway, a spokesperson with Queen Anne’s County says the airport will remain closed while the investigation is completed.
